Children’s Eye Health & Safety Month

August is Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month.  This initiative, sprearheaded by Prevent Blindness, aims to raise awareness among parents, caregivers, professionals, and policymakers about the critical impact of vision and eye health on a child’s development, learning, and social interactions.  They also provide guidance on accessing eye care and encourage advocacy for federal funding to support state and community children’s eye health programs.

In addition to providing guidance on resources available, Prevent Blindness also recently launched the new “Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) Education and Support Program,” as part of the first-ever ROP Awareness Week.
