A curated, searchable collection of ophthalmic and neuroscience research using MICRON imaging platforms. Debuting at ARVO 2026 in Denver.
What We Built
MICRON reSEARCH is a curated collection of peer-reviewed research papers related to in vivo small animal ophthalmic and neuroscience research conducted with MICRON imaging platforms. It lives at phoenixmicron.com as part of the MICRON Portal and is free to use.
The database is assembled from three major sources: Europe PMC, PubMed, and OpenAlex. Papers are identified, deduplicated, enriched with structured metadata (MeSH headings, author affiliations, imaging modalities used), and classified by animal model, disease area, MICRON product, and more. New papers are ingested automatically as they are indexed by these sources, so the collection stays current without manual curation.
The result is a focused, searchable library of the published science in preclinical ophthalmic and neuroscience imaging. Instead of running broad PubMed queries and sifting through hundreds of irrelevant results, researchers can go directly to content that matters to their field.
How It Works
Open access, no account required. Anyone can search the database and read paper abstracts without creating an account. There is no paywall, no trial period, and no sales pitch between you and the research.
Registered users get more. Researchers at academic and research institutions can create a free account (or sign in with their ORCID) to unlock advanced filtering, saved searches, citation export tools, and full paper content where available. Registration is limited to research organizations to keep the platform focused on the community it serves.
Search and filter by what matters. Filter papers by animal model, disease profile, research organization, MICRON product, imaging modality, author, and more. The filters are designed around the way preclinical ophthalmic researchers actually think about the literature, not around generic bibliographic categories.
Citation tools. Found a paper you need to cite? Grab a formatted citation directly from reSEARCH without switching to another tool.
Always current. The database is continuously updated as new papers are indexed by Europe PMC, PubMed, and OpenAlex. You do not need to check back manually or set up alerts elsewhere.
Why We Built It
We have spent over two decades working alongside the researchers who use MICRON systems. Over that time, the body of published research using MICRON imaging has grown into the hundreds of papers across dozens of disease areas, animal models, and imaging modalities. But finding that work has always been harder than it should be.
Searching PubMed or Google Scholar for preclinical retinal imaging papers means wading through clinical studies, review articles, and papers using entirely different instrumentation. There has not been a single place where a researcher could go to see the breadth of in vivo ophthalmic and neuroscience imaging work conducted on MICRON platforms.
We built reSEARCH to solve that. Specifically:
- Discover novel eye and eye-brain research conducted with MICRON imaging systems.
- Review how other labs are using specific MICRON products and modalities for particular disease models or animal species.
- Find researchers and institutions working on similar questions, and see who is publishing in your area.
- Plan experiments by seeing what imaging approaches, animal models, and modalities have been applied to a given disease or research question.
- Conduct focused literature reviews for grant applications and manuscripts, pre-filtered to the preclinical ophthalmic and neuroscience imaging field.
- Stay current as new papers are published, without manually searching multiple databases.
See It at ARVO 2026
We will be demonstrating reSEARCH live at the ARVO Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado. Stop by the Phoenix-Micron booth 7003 to explore the tool, ask questions, and tell us what you would like to see next.
The full platform will be available to all users at phoenixmicron.com following the conclusion of ARVO 2026.
Part of the MICRON Portal
reSEARCH joins a growing set of tools available through the MICRON Portal at phoenixmicron.com. The Portal is the single entry point for all Phoenix-Micron web applications. Users create a free account with their institutional email (or sign in with an ORCID) and gain access to tools based on their role.
In addition to reSEARCH, the Portal provides access to the MICRON eStore for filters, lamps, and accessories; a video library with 35+ training videos and full transcript search; the MICRON Help Agent for AI-powered product support; and a direct link to open a support ticket with the PMI team.
reSEARCH is one part of a broader effort to make phoenixmicron.com a working resource for the research community. We will continue to expand and announce new Portal capabilities throughout 2026.
